Hringfari is the creative collaboration of Teitur Björgvinsson (IS) and James Bunton (CA). A sonic journey through friendship and wayfinding. Like a compass, Hringfari, draws lines across distances, travels the circle, and creates and collects shared stories and memories. Sounds that were recorded in local churches, a cabin, and in home, temporary and professional studios come together as an album that transports time — to the past, the present and our futures.
The album is a collection of songs that have been worked on long-distance and onsite in Iceland and Canada, and carries with it inspiration from both geographic locations.
Teitur and James circled Iceland, visiting churches where organs designed and constructed by Teitur’s father Björgvin Tómasson s, to write, record and create the music that has travelled between Iceland and Canada and is now Hringfari. This is their first collaborative project.
