Info :

Making his own 4-track recordings in his basement just made Hynes a normal teenager growing up in Newfoundland.  When you’re recording yourself it’s beneficial to play more than one instrument; Hynes taught himself to play everything in the house. That jack-of-all trades approach has served him well. Just in the past three years, Hynes has played bass on tour with Hey Rosetta! and The Hidden Cameras, guitar with Toronto Songwriter Donovan Woods, and is now a member of Evening Hymns.

Working closely with producer and recording engineer James Bunton (Ohibijou, Diamond Rings) the songs for ‘Watchful Creatures’ began to form in the summer of 2011 and were methodically sculpted over a two-year period. Hynes played almost every note made by every instrument on this album, Bunton scrupulously analyzed and perfected each performance, and the result is an uncommonly bold, confident and fully realized debut release.

"A brilliant songsmith as much a hook-smith, Jon Hynes bridges the gap between Paul Westerberg and shimmering 70's pop. An incredible talent."  -  Arboretum Festival
